TALLAHASSEE, Florida. Governor Ron DeSantis suspended elected State Attorney Monique Worrell, citing "neglect of duty and incompetence." Wednesday morning at the Florida State Capitol, the governor declared that a state attorney's responsibility is to "faithfully enforce the law." "One's political agenda cannot trump this solemn duty," stated DeSantis. Worrell, who serves on the Orange County Ninth Judicial Circuit Court, has been criticized for months by the Florida governor for her management of certain high-profile cases in the Orlando area. "Worrell's practices and policies have too often allowed violent criminals to escape the full consequences of their criminal conduct," the governor stated in a press release. Judge Andrew Bain was chosen by DeSantis to be the new state attorney. Worrell responded to her suspension at a press conference hours later, calling DeSantis a "weak dictator" and her suspension a "political hit job." She stated, "This is merely a smokescreen for Ron DeSantis's disastrous presidential campaign." "This should not happen in a democracy." #shortsviral #subscribe #news
