Alannah Miles won the 1991 Grammy for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance for this song. This was one of my favorite songs from that night, Black Velvet by Alannah Miles. I thought it was really neat that the sun was setting at just the right moment in the song as I sang that verse. I think that the crowd seemed to enjoy this song as much as I enjoyed singing it!
