Description of vitamin B5 Vitamin B5, or pantothenic acid, is one of the water-soluble (water-soluble) vitamins. It owes its name to the fact that it is universally widespread (in Greek, "pantothen" means "everywhere"). However, it can only be produced by plants or micro-organisms1. Many breakfast cereals are fortified with B group vitamins, including B5. Brewer's yeast and wheat germ can supplement intakes. In addition, some micro-organisms in our intestines produce vitamin B5, but this intake is not always significant.
