In this video I show you guys my grandparents cleaning saijan bhajee. I will post a video for the cooking process very soon. Saijan Bhajee, which refers to the leaves from the Moringa plant is another type of "bhajee" or spinach that is eaten in Guyana. When cooked the flavor is very distinct and is very rich from the addition of coconut milk. The moringa plant has many uses and is known for its healing properties. The leaves can be made into bhajee and served with dhal and rice or they can be boiled to make a tea. The "drumsticks" that grow on the plant can also be curried by themselves or added into other curries (especially hassa curry) to give them a great flavor. Check out some of my other videos!
