Drying is the oldest method to preserve fruits to consume it for a longer duration. Munakka, Sultana and Raisins are dried form of grapes, all belong to Vitis vinifera. Munakka is mostly prepared and consumed in the Indian Subcontinent. It is a dried form of seeded grapes. It has a very high reputation in Ayurveda. Sultana is a dried form of sultana grapes originally from Turkey. It is similar to Thompson Seedless. Raisins are derived from French word raisin sec meaning "Dry Grapes". Therefore all dried grapes are known as raisins. In this video we have demonstrated 5 types of raisins mostly available in Indian Market, having different colour, shape and texture due to the grapes from which they are dried and the process involved in raisins production. Primarily, all raisins have high sugar content along with fiber and trace minerals. Blackcurrant is a dried form of blackcurrant, a fruit obtained from the medium-sized shrub of Ribes nigrum and widely used in preparing Jams, jellies, ice creams and various baked goods.
