This is a review for the 1981 novel "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?". It's a noir murder mystery, set in a world where cartoon characters are alive. Roger Rabbit hires detective Eddie Valiant to investigate, when his shady boss, Rocco DeGreasey, denies Roger a new and steals Roger's gorgeous wife Jessica. Roger wants his wife back and the comic strip that he was promised! A double murder occurs. Roger's boss is killed, and Roger is the prime suspect. Not long after, Roger is killed, and Jessica is the prime suspect. Everyone involved in the case seems to be hiding a secret or two; Eddie's investigation uncovers more than one illegal misdeed. Also, everyone seems intent on finding a teakettle which was stolen from the crime scene. Why is it so important? Since Roger is a cartoon, a speech bubble containing his last words are found at the crime scene. Also, he has a temporary double, who will last for two days before disappearing. Eddie feels obligated to solve the mystery before Roger's double disappears for good, although it certainly is strange to have a murder victim work as your partner!
