In this video I take a look at the NUX Horseman Overdrive. The Horseman is their take on the classic, coveted Klon Centaur overdrive pedal. This pedal can do everything from sparkly clean boosts to some higher gain distorted tones with the twist of a knob. It has two modes, which replicate 2 distinctive Klon circuits. The default mode is the Gold mode which is the classic Klon sound. If you hold down the switch, the pedal switches to Silver mode which is a higher gain, higher powered Klon style tone. Many original Klon pedals are now retaining from £3000 and up on the resale market and even many of the boutique builders alternatives can hit the £300+ mark. The tone of a Centaur became a very sought after sound after players like John Mayer, Jeff Beck, Joe Perry, Joe Bonamassa and more bought up the original pedals when they were discontinued. This NUX alternative gets you in that Klon ballpark for a fraction of the price. In the video I am using my 1983 Tokai Goldstar and my Stanford Crossroad Thinline 30 which is plugged into the Blackstar Studio 10 6L6 which is mic'd up with a Lewitt Audio LCT 440 microphone.
